Oscars 2019: Rami Malek Wins Best Actor for Queen Biopic Bohemian Rhapsody

Rami Malek has taken residence the Oscar for Best Actor tonight at the 2019 Academy Awards. Malek, who performed Freddie Mercury within the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, received the Oscar over Bradley Cooper (A Star Is Born), Christian Bale (Vice), Willem Dafoe (At Eternity’s Gate), and Viggo Mortensen (Green Book).

Bohemian Rhapsody additionally received Sound Mixing, Sound Editing, and Film Editing. The biopic is up for Best Picture. Earlier tonight, Queen guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor opened the Oscars with singer Adam Lambert. They performed classic Queen songs “We Will Rock You” and “We are the Champions.”
