Olivia Rodrigo Unveils Highly Anticipated Third Album, ‘You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love’

The wait is officially over for “Livies.” On Thursday, April 2, Olivia Rodrigo delighted fans by announcing that her third studio effort, titled You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, is scheduled for a summer arrival.

The Grammy-winning artist took to Instagram to share the project’s ethereal cover art—a melancholic shot of Rodrigo leaning back on a swing set against a pale, sprawling sky. Accompanying the visual, she confirmed the release date: “My third album ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’ is out June 12th.”

“I am so proud of this record and I can’t wait for you to hear it,” she added, noting that pre-orders are currently live.

Fans heading to her official webstore will find a variety of physical formats, including exclusive vinyl pressings, CDs, and cassettes. Collectors can also snag signed editions featuring alternate artwork of Rodrigo wandering through a nocturnal meadow in a sheer pink gown.

This upcoming release follows the massive success of her 2023 sophomore album, Guts, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. That record produced the chart-topping anthem “Vampire” and fueled a massive world tour that spanned most of 2024 and early 2025. Her debut, Sour, remains a cultural touchstone, having catapulted her to superstardom with hits like “Drivers License” and “Good 4 U.”

Rodrigo has been dropping hints about “OR3” for months. In a recent cover story for British Vogue, she described the new collection as a deep dive into “sad love songs.” She explained that the lyrics were born from the realization that the most profound romantic tracks often carry an undercurrent of “fear or yearning.”

“I used to think that the second I’m in a really great relationship, I’m gonna start feeling good about myself, and this stuff is going to fall into place,” she told the publication, reflecting on her personal growth and her previous relationship with actor Louis Partridge. “But it just doesn’t work like that.”
