Official Confirmation of New God of War Game Starring Kratos
The Ghost of Sparta is far from finished. During a panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, God of War game director Cory Barlog officially confirmed that PlayStation‘s Santa Monica Studio is actively developing another flagship installment in the acclaimed action-adventure series starring Kratos. According to IGN, Barlog revealed that this upcoming project will launch following the release of God of War Laufey, which has been locked in for a 2027 debut.
<p>While Barlog, serving as the head of creative at Santa Monica Studio, remained tight-lipped regarding specific plot details, he hinted that Kratos' next narrative chapter will weave directly into the overarching events of <em>God of War: Laufey</em>. Faye's dedicated spin-off is poised to lay the groundwork for what lies ahead. Having already dismantled the Greek pantheon and conquered the Norse realms, the brooding warrior may soon set his sights on entirely uncharted mythological territories—with Egyptian and Tibetan pantheons looming as intriguing possibilities based on narrative breadcrumbs planted in <em>Laufey</em>.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, <em>God of War Laufey</em> centers on Laufey—better known as Faye—as she embarks on a perilous quest through the divine afterlife realm known as the Everywhen. Discovering that the intricate safeguards she established to protect Kratos and Atreus are collapsing, she must carve a bloody path through hostile deities to safeguard her family. <em>God of War Laufey</em> is scheduled to launch exclusively on the PlayStation 5 on February 16, 2027.</p>
