Oddworld: Soulstorm reveals an “industrial hell” in first trailer

Oddworld: Soulstorm, the primary sequel within the political platforming collection since its reboot in 2014, has been proven off in a screen-busting new trailer.

It’s screen-busting as a result of it pushes the sense of 3D depth to Oddworld’s side-on environments. Where Oddworld: New ‘N’ Tasty was 2.5D, Lorne Lanning and his crew are calling this one ‘2.9D’. That’s exemplified within the trailer by a prepare that pummels straight previous protagonist Abe in direction of the digicam.

The footage reveals a well-known concentrate on herding fellow Mudokons via side-scrolling ranges. If earlier games are something to go by, you’ll be capable of problem easy instructions to the Mudokons to maintain them protected as you navigate an industrial hellscape.

While Soulstorm is the second half in a reboot of the Oddworld collection, it doesn’t even share a reputation with the unique 1998 sequel, Abe’s Exoddus. Instead it represents a “complete story retake” and folds in “intelligent” new mechanics that construct on using explosives.

The Oddworld games are concerning the affect of rampant capitalism on a fragile ecosystem. In that sense, Soulstorm’s not prone to be much less related when it comes out in 2020.
