Oblivion Remastered Runs at 30 FPS on Nintendo Switch 2
Initial tests of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered on Nintendo Switch 2 show a steady 30 FPS in indoor areas and only minor drops in the open world.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered releases on Nintendo Switch 2 this week. Following technical issues on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions, players worried the Nintendo console version would perform even worse. The first test shows the opposite.
According to scarlet works, after installing the day-one update, the game targets 30 FPS in docked mode and maintains that mark most of the time. Indoor locations—such as the starting sewers, exploration, and combat—run particularly well.
Stutters occur in the open world when loading the environment, which temporarily reduces smoothness. These issues are not severe enough to hinder gameplay.
Handheld mode barely reduces performance. In some areas, the game runs nearly identically to docked mode. More noticeable drops happen near large cities, where the console has to load more world elements.
Oblivion Remastered also supports motion controls and a mouse mode with separate sensitivity and button settings. Players can save different control profiles.
The initial test does not validate fears of a failed port. The Switch 2 version has problems, but future updates could improve open-world loading.
