Nicki Minaj Expresses Deep Gratitude to President Trump for Threatening Military Action in Nigeria

Nicki Minaj publicly aligned with former President Donald Trump over concerns about reported violence against Christians in Nigeria, expressing gratitude that she can worship freely in the United States.

In a post on X dated November 1, Minaj thanked Trump for addressing what she described as a serious religious-rights issue, writing that she felt a “deep sense of gratitude” to be able to practice her faith without fear in America. Minaj wrote, “No group should ever be persecuted for practicing their religion,” and added that mutual respect does not require shared beliefs. She also urged people to keep persecuted Christians in their prayers, warning that similar atrocities affect numerous countries worldwide.

The Trump administration recently moved Nigeria back onto its “Countries of Particular Concern” list — a roster that includes nations such as China, North Korea, Russia and Pakistan — citing violations of religious freedom. On Truth Social, Trump called Nigeria a “disgraced country” and vowed that American military action, if taken, would be swift and forceful.

Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has pushed back against that characterization, saying the description does not reflect Nigeria’s reality and overlooks the government’s ongoing efforts to protect freedom of religion for all citizens, according to a Reuters report. See Reuters for more.

Minaj’s public support of Trump drew criticism from some fans who said the endorsement risked politicizing religion and could alienate parts of her audience. In response to one follower’s claim that politics were being used to marginalize LGBTQ supporters, Minaj — in a post later deleted — wrote, “Imagine hearing that Christians are being MURDERED & making it about you being gay.”
