Nicholas Hoult to Play Gilderoy Lockhart in Harry Potter Series

Superman star Nicholas Hoult has officially joined the cast for the second season of HBO’s Harry Potter series. He is set to portray the vain and pompous Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, Gilderoy Lockhart.

The upcoming season will adapt the events of *Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets*. In the 2002 Warner Bros. feature film, the character was memorably played by Kenneth Branagh. The series also recently added Peter Serafinowicz to its roster, who will take on the role of the mischievous poltergeist, Peeves.

The premiere of *Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone* is scheduled for December 25. Before the year concludes, Hoult will also be seen in the thriller *How to Rob a Bank*.
