During a high-energy evening at Nashville’s GEODIS Park, Niall Horan and Thomas Rhett surprised fans by putting their own spin on Ella Langley’s chart-topping anthem, “Choosin’ Texas.” The song, which has maintained a firm grip on the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for twelve consecutive weeks, served as a highlight of the duo’s exclusive summer stadium tour.
The pair, trading vocals and acoustic guitar lines, transformed the track into a seamless duet, much to the delight of the capacity crowd. Enthusiastic concertgoers quickly flooded social media with clips of the impromptu performance following the Thursday night (July 9) event.
The collaboration didn’t stop there. Throughout the night, Horan and Rhett traded hits, delivering a nostalgic rendition of the One Direction classic “Steal My Girl”—a song Rhett has previously championed as his favorite from the boy band’s catalog. Their setlist also spanned their respective discographies, featuring collaborative versions of Horan’s “Heaven” and Rhett’s beloved ballad, “Die a Happy Man.”
Fans were further treated to a live rendition of “Old Tricks.” While the recorded version famously pairs Rhett with Blake Shelton, Horan stepped in to handle the harmonies for this live iteration. The duo has already captured this creative chemistry on a special recording for the deluxe version of Rhett’s album, About a Woman.
Beyond these collaborative moments, both headliners performed full solo sets during this singular Nashville engagement. Fans who missed out on the Nashville show still have one final opportunity to catch the pair sharing the stage: they are scheduled to perform at Hersheypark Stadium in Hershey, Pennsylvania, on July 18.
Reflecting on the tour’s inception, Rhett shared his excitement, noting, “Niall and I have been close friends for nearly a decade, but we’ve never had the chance to officially tour together. Sharing the road with a long-time friend is the ultimate experience for us and the fans.”
Horan echoed that sentiment, adding, “When the idea of these dates came up, I was immediately on board. We have such a long history, and it felt like the most natural collaboration.”
