New Yuri Bykov film gets release date
Distributor Atmosfera Kino has officially announced the theatrical release date for the thriller “The Summit” (Vershina). The latest project from acclaimed director Yury Bykov (“The Fool,” “Likhie”) is set to hit Russian cinemas on December 3.
The film stars Artyom Bystrov, Andrei Smolyakov, and Alexander Robak. The narrative unfolds at an alpine base camp, where a mysterious newcomer named Zorin arrives. He joins a group of amateur climbers for an ascent led by three experienced guides. As they scale the mountain, underlying tensions flare, triggering a series of volatile and unpredictable consequences.
The concept for the film was inspired by Bykov’s own expedition up Mount Elbrus. He co-wrote the script alongside Savva Minaev (“Serf 3”). Bykov’s most recent feature film, “The Owner,” was released in 2023.
