New Witcher Game Off to Modest Start: Reigns: The Witcher Peaks at Fewer Than 200 Players

CD Projekt RED recently unveiled a new expansion to the Witcher universe titled Reigns: The Witcher, yet reception on PC has been remarkably lukewarm.

Reigns: The Witcher is a modest entry within the world established by Andrzej Sapkowski. While the majority of the fanbase is eagerly anticipating a full-scale The Witcher 4 featuring a vast open world and Ciri as the protagonist, CD Projekt RED has instead released a casual, choice-based card adventure.

Player engagement on Steam peaked at a meager 179 concurrent users. Despite active promotion across social media platforms and official press releases, the game failed to capture a significant audience. This spin-off is clearly tailored more specifically for mobile platforms rather than desktop gaming.

These underwhelming figures are more characteristic of a niche indie title than a spin-off from one of the industry’s most powerful brands. It is evident that the PC community remains steadfast in its desire for a traditional, high-budget “Witcher” experience.
