New Unreal Redux Trailer Released After 2 Years — Fan-Made Shooter Remake Not Canceled
Some Unreal fans are taking it upon themselves to refresh the classic.
Recently, shooter fans have renewed their interest in the Unreal franchise. In early October, modder Krull0r — who previously revealed his remake — surfaced again.
The creator has released a new trailer for the Unreal Redux project:
“This remake is built on the Unreal Engine 1 base, significantly enhanced by OldUnreal’s Patch 227. As a result, the project retains the distinctive tone and atmosphere of the original Unreal while adding new visual effects and gameplay mechanics.”
Some of the changes and new features:
- The bodies of slain enemies can be searched to obtain random ammunition and items.
- Buttons, switches, and control panels are activated exclusively with the new “use” key.
- Certain enemies will spawn within their designated areas but at varying positions.
- Environmental props are powered by NVIDIA PhysX.
- The QuadShot has been added as an official weapon and can be discovered during the campaign with some effort.
- Level geometry detail has been increased across every map.
- A new, highly detailed skybox.
Krull0r noted that Unreal Redux does not yet have an official release date, and the footage shown in the trailer does not represent the final quality.
