New ‘Mafia’ Game Sells Over One Million Copies Today

Mafia: The Old Country launched exactly one month ago – see the announcement here – yet the publisher has not disclosed any official sales figures. We may learn the full details in November, when Take-Two releases its financial report. In the meantime, Alinea Analytics expert Reese Elliot estimates that the prequel has surpassed one million units sold across all platforms:

  • 643,000 copies on PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro
  • 337,000 copies on PC (Steam)
  • 117,000 copies on Xbox Series X/S

The development budget for Mafia: The Old Country remains undisclosed, and it’s unclear whether costs have been fully recouped. However, with the standard edition priced at $50—and several higher-tier editions available—the game has likely generated at least $55 million in revenue to date.

As for the entire Mafia franchise, total lifetime sales have now exceeded 35 million copies. According to the rights holder, the breakdown is as follows:

  • Mafia I – 3 million copies
  • Mafia II – 5 million copies
  • Mafia III – 7 million copies
  • Definitive Editions (remake of the first game and remasters of the others) – 19 million copies
