New horror comedy from the creator of “Obsession” gets a release date

Focus Features, Universal, and Blumhouse have announced that the upcoming horror-comedy from director Curry Barker (known for Obsession) is slated for release on May 7, 2027.

Titled Anything But Ghosts, the film follows a group of con artists posing as paranormal investigators who find their lives upended when they inadvertently encounter a genuine supernatural entity.

Barker co-wrote the screenplay alongside Cooper Tomlinson, and both are set to appear in the film. The ensemble cast also features Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World), and Violet McGraw (The Black Phone).

It remains unclear whether the film will see a theatrical release in Russia. Barker’s debut feature, Obsession, premiered in May 2026 and became a massive box-office sensation, grossing $518 million worldwide against a modest production budget of just $750,000.
