New GTA 6 Press Leak Is Fake
This week, several prominent gaming news outlets circulated reports regarding a purported new GTA 6 leak. However, despite the media traction, these claims are fundamentally unreliable and have since been debunked as a fabrication.
The narrative originated from an Instagram post by user vice.city.alligator. The uploader claimed to have unearthed a gameplay clip while decluttering their phone—footage supposedly captured during the pandemic, well before the infamous 2022 leaks. According to the story, the video was recorded by acquaintances who were remote developers at Rockstar Games at the time. The poster alleged that the clip was only shared publicly after these individuals had parted ways with the company. As for the degraded visual fidelity, the user attributed the poor quality to the file being compressed during an email transfer.

While the backstory was elaborate, it was also highly suspicious. Nevertheless, major industry outlets such as Kotaku and Insider Gaming were undeterred by these inconsistencies, reporting the news to their vast audiences. Remarkably, some of these articles remained live even after the content was confirmed as a hoax.
What exactly betrays the forgery?
- The overall visual presentation and the bottom UI overlay bear a striking resemblance to previous faked screenshots and mock-up videos.
- The typography used for the on-screen text does not match the fonts seen in authenticated Rockstar Games leaks.
- Environment analysis reveals that the bridge visible in the background does not actually exist within the game world established in the official trailers.
- From a legal standpoint, the “former employee” explanation is flawed; developers remain bound by strict non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) regardless of their employment status, and leaking such material would carry severe legal repercussions.
The takeaway is clear: it is vital to maintain a high level of skepticism and rigorously scrutinize any emerging Grand Theft Auto VI “intel,” even when it surfaces on seemingly reputable platforms.
