Netflix Prepares for Major Layoffs
Netflix is reportedly bracing for a substantial wave of layoffs, potentially impacting approximately 5% of its workforce. According to Variety, which cites reports from Puck, the streaming giant could announce this major restructuring as early as next week. A company spokesperson has declined to comment on the matter.
As of late 2025, Netflix employed a global staff of around 16,000. Should the projected 5% reduction take effect, it would result in the elimination of roughly 800 positions. While it remains unclear which departments will be hardest hit, there are concerns that the cuts may reach into creative divisions, including teams responsible for feature film production.
The company previously conducted a significant round of layoffs in 2022, when it shed hundreds of roles in response to stagnant growth and a decline in subscriber numbers.
