Netflix Announces Bridgerton Prequel Series About Young Violet
Netflix has officially greenlit a new *Bridgerton* spin-off, focusing on the formative years of Violet, the future Viscountess Bridgerton. Shonda Rhimes is set to pen the script, with her production banner, Shondaland, overseeing the project, according to reports from Variety.
The narrative will transport audiences back to a time before Violet became the matriarch of the Bridgerton clan. The story will center on her early romance with Edmund Bridgerton—the man who would ultimately become her husband. Their unfolding relationship is set to provide the essential backstory for the events familiar to fans of the original series.
Rhimes had previously hinted at the potential for a standalone project exploring Violet’s past. During the fourth season of *Bridgerton*, the character—portrayed by Ruth Gemmell—was given a more prominent romantic arc. It is expected that Gemmell will reprise her role for the new series, following the structure established by previous installments of the franchise.
This upcoming project marks the second prequel in the *Bridgerton* universe, following the success of *Queen Charlotte*. At this stage, neither the release date nor the full casting details have been confirmed.
