The National Society of Film Critics in the United States has announced its selections for the 2025 film year. Topping the slate as Best Picture was “Battle After Battle”, with Paul Thomas Anderson winning Best Director, Leonardo DiCaprio taking Best Actor, and newcomer Chase Infinity honored as Breakthrough Performer of the Year.
Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” was awarded Best Original Screenplay, while “Train Dreams” earned Best Adapted Screenplay. Rose Byrne won Best Actress for her performance in “I’d Kick You If I Could”.
It’s worth noting that this is not the first major prize for “Battle After Battle”: the film previously won at the Gotham Awards and was earlier named Best Film by the New York Film Critics Circle.
