Monster Hunter: the movie starring Milla Jovovich in Direct-to-Video in France, a 4K Blu-ray is expected

Sad destiny that that of the film Monster Hunter yet promised a bright future in the cinema, but which will ultimately end its race directly on video for the French market. It is our colleagues from Allociné who share the information, specifying that the feature film by Paul WS Anderson will be available with us from April 7, 2021 in EST (Electronic Sell Through, which means in final digital purchase) then the April 28 on Blu-ray, DVD and VOD, knowing that the 4K version has indeed been confirmed. Recall that this film, shot in the fall of 2018 in South Africa, was keen to pay tribute to the license of Capcom, with a whole communication campaign between the filmmaker and the creators of the game who had given approval of this adaptation on big screen. But a scene deemed racist in the film, referring to the famous rhyme “Chinese, Japanese, Dirty Knees”, sparked outrage in China, which was the first country to host the film. Result: Monster Hunter was deprogrammed after a single day of operation before returning to production to cut the famous scene. But the damage was done and the film therefore broke its mouth at the Chinese box office. By the way, according to the results, the film only grossed $ 19.6 million worldwide, which is obviously a real failure.
