The wait is nearly over: Yacht Club Games, the studio renowned for Shovel Knight, has confirmed a fresh release date for its highly anticipated retro-styled action title, Mina the Hollower. The game is slated to arrive on May 29th.
Originally unveiled in February 2022, Mina the Hollower serves as a nostalgic homage to the 8-bit Game Boy Color era, blending top-down gameplay mechanics reminiscent of classic Zelda and Castlevania entries. Players step into the role of Mina, a brilliant scientist and “Hollower,” venturing onto a perilous, cursed island to restore its fading energy. True to her name, Mina can burrow beneath the earth—a core mechanic essential for tactical combat, environmental puzzles, and navigating the island’s treacherous dungeons. Armed with a versatile whip and an array of supplementary weaponry, she is well-equipped for the challenges ahead. Following a successful Kickstarter campaign, backers were the first to receive confirmation of this updated launch window. The project was previously targeted for a Halloween release before experiencing a postponement.
Mina the Hollower debuts May 29 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, Switch 2, and PC.
