Few names generate as much industry buzz as Adam Driver. Recently, rumors have circulated linking the acclaimed actor to various antagonistic roles within the MCU’s upcoming X-Men reboot. While the consensus among fans is that Driver would be an exceptional addition to the franchise, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige admits that despite his persistent efforts, a collaboration has yet to materialize.

In a conversation with Happy Sad Confused host Joshua Horowitz, Feige noted that his desire to bring Driver into the Marvel fold is an open secret. He acknowledged that the two have engaged in discussions regarding multiple projects over the years, though those talks have consistently failed to culminate in a casting. “It’s practically a tradition at this point to hop on a Zoom with him, only for him to decline,” Feige remarked with a laugh.

Although unconfirmed, industry speculation previously positioned Driver as the frontrunner for Reed Richards in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Reports remain divided on whether he withdrew early or was in the final stages of negotiation before the role was ultimately secured by Pedro Pascal.

Currently, Driver is at the center of wild speculation regarding the X-Men. Initial reports suggested he might step into the iconic shoes of Magneto, though these claims were later pivoted by insiders to suggest other potential roles, such as the sinister Mister Sinister or William Stryker—a figure notorious from the God Loves, Man Kills storyline. Regardless of the specific character, the persistent link between Driver and the X-Men franchise continues to ignite intense fan discourse.

Marvel Studios is slated to host its highly anticipated presentation in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, July 25, at 5:30 p.m. PDT. Kevin Feige is expected to appear alongside unannounced special guests to pull back the curtain on the studio’s future slate.
