Marvel’s Avengers: “We’re not making an MCU game, or a comic book game,” says Crystal Dynamics

Crystal Dynamics has tried to counter the poor response to its reveal of Marvel’s Avengers by shaking off affiliation with the blockbuster cinematic universe and comedian books typically.

The developer desires gamers to leap into what it sees as the following stage of the Avengers, distancing it from a spherical of headlines and comments from E3 last week that poked enjoyable on the price range look of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

“We at all times love suggestions from the followers, so we’ve acquired time on this game, and a part of what I take from these showings is simply private inspiration, suggestions, we do a number of playtesting at Crystal so we consider strongly in making a game that works for the followers.

“That as a lot as we’re not making an MCU game, or a comic book e-book game particularly, we’re making an Avengers game and it’s for Avengers followers,” stated Noah Hughes, studio inventive director.

“I mean I think that’s natural, right?” he stated of the shade thrown after the reveal. “So that’s not a surprise. I think everyone should respond to the heroes in the way it makes them feel.”

Hughes feels that the MCU’s multi-billion greenback success shouldn’t overshadow different tales that may be instructed with the Avengers.

“It was important for us to be bringing to life in gaming the vast history of the Avengers,” he instructed VG247. “And I feel the MCU is such an incredible accomplishment, that it’s arduous to not recognise that as a centrepiece of the Marvel universe and of the Avengers.

“But it actually isn’t the sum complete of the Avengers. So a part of the enjoyable we’ve got is to attract inspiration from the comics as effectively, and convey issues to life in ways in which individuals haven’t seen earlier than and all of that.”

Claiming to not be impressed by the flicks doesn’t actually wash when the character costumes and settings for the game are so just like the movies, and it actually simply appears that Crystal Dynamics is attempting to deflect from the uncanny likenesses of Thor, Tony Stark and Steve Rogers that caused the muted response final week.

But Hughes insists the game can step our from beneath the shadow of the MCU now that the present film arc has concluded.

“I mean I think it’s good timing, I think it was nice to have the closure that is represented in Endgame,” he stated.

“We’re enthusiastic about being what’s subsequent for these Avengers, and I feel the followers will come alongside for the experience, hopefully.

“I can’t wait to share extra in regards to the game and a few of our inspiration for it, however I feel that this concept of making a brand new journey for gamers to go on, my hope is that the followers will wish to go on that journey with us.”
