Marvel Officially Renews Animated Series “X‑Men ’97” for a Third Season and Reveals Season Two Release Date

X‑Men ’97’s second season is slated for summer 2026 — and the saga won’t stop there.

Previously, Marvel’s head of streaming, Brad Winderbaum, indicated the studio aims to release titles like Daredevil, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider‑Man, and X‑Men ’97 on an annual basis as long as audience interest endures. Marvel, however, follows strict internal processes, and the formal announcement came only recently at New York Comic Con: X‑Men ’97 has been renewed for a third season, and the second season’s premiere was confirmed for summer 2026 on Disney+.

The animated series, which premiered in March 2024, continues the storyline of the original X‑Men that concluded in 1997. The first season finale scattered the heroes across time — Cyclops and Jean Grey were hurled into a distant future (the year 3960), while Magneto, Professor X, Beast, and others found themselves in Ancient Egypt, confronting a youthful incarnation of Apocalypse.

As shown in the trailer unveiled at Comic Con, season two picks up that thread, with the heroes attempting to find a way back to the 1990s.
