Marvel Delays Production of ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’
Marvel has yet to commence production on Avengers: Secret Wars, despite initial plans to begin filming this September. According to industry reports, cameras are now not expected to roll until January 2027. The studio has not issued an official statement regarding the scheduling shift.
This delay casts significant doubt on the currently slated December 17, 2027, premiere date. Given the immense scale and technical complexity inherent in such a major Marvel production, a turnaround of less than a year between the start of principal photography and the theatrical release is highly improbable, making a push to 2028 increasingly likely.
Insiders suggest that a contributing factor to this postponement may be Marvel’s intent to gauge audience reception to Avengers: Doomsday. Reports indicate that the script and character roster for Secret Wars remain subject to adjustment, allowing the studio to pivot based on the performance of the preceding installment.
