The Timothée Chalamet-led sports comedy-drama Marty Supreme netted a staggering $28.1 million during its domestic debut. This impressive haul marks the most successful opening weekend in the history of indie powerhouse A24.
Capitalizing on the lucrative Christmas holiday window, the film managed to eclipse the studio’s previous milestone held by Civil War, which earned $25.5 million during its traditional three-day launch in April 2024.
Directed by Josh Safdie (Uncut Gems), the narrative follows the ambitions of Marty Mauser, a professional ping-pong player navigating the vibrant streets of 1952 New York City. While currently sweeping the US box office, Marty Supreme is scheduled to arrive in Russian theaters on January 15.
