‘Mare of Easttown’ Creator to Direct Horror Film About Missing Children
Filmmaker Craig Zobel, known for his work on “Mare of Easttown” and “The Penguin,” is set to helm a feature film adaptation of the acclaimed horror comic series “Something Is Killing the Children,” produced by Blumhouse.
First launched by BOOM! Studios in 2019, the source material centers on Erica Slaughter, a mysterious monster hunter tasked with investigating a string of chilling disappearances in the small town of Archer’s Peak. The series has achieved massive success, standing as the best-selling horror comic title since “The Walking Dead,” with over five million copies sold to date.
Production on the feature film is slated to commence in 2027. In tandem with the movie, Blumhouse is also developing an animated series based on the franchise. Zobel’s extensive portfolio includes films such as “The Hunt,” “Z for Zachariah,” and “Compliance,” as well as television credits for “Westworld,” “The Leftovers,” and more.
