Johnson Wen, a 26-year-old Australian who lunged at Ariana Grande during the Singapore premiere of Wicked: For Good, has been handed a nine-day jail term by a court in the city-state, according to news reports.
A Singapore court found Wen guilty of being a “public nuisance” and imposed the short custodial sentence, per BBC News.
Billboard has reached out to Grande’s representatives for comment.
When he initially faced charges, Wen was reported to be subject to a potential sentence of up to three months’ imprisonment and/or a fine in excess of $1,500.
This is not Wen’s first run-in with the law for stunt-like behavior. His Instagram contains multiple clips showing him rushing performers and putting his hands on artists at concerts, including incidents involving The Weeknd and the Chainsmokers; he was also arrested in June after a similar episode with Katy Perry.
After the Singapore event, Wen posted that he had been arrested and subsequently released. Video from the premiere shows Grande visibly alarmed as Wen grabbed her shoulder, with Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo intervening to help remove him.
Security footage later captured officers restraining Wen on the ground at Universal Studios Singapore, where the premiere took place, before escorting him away. Grande has not publicly addressed the episode, though she later posted messages expressing affection for Singapore.
Wicked: For Good is scheduled to open in theaters worldwide on November 21, 2025.
