Long-Awaited Game of Thrones PC Game Delayed to 2027

Game of Thrones: War for Westeros has resurfaced more than a year after its initial reveal, though the update comes with the bittersweet news that its release window has been pushed to 2027.

<p>A real-time strategy title inspired by the acclaimed HBO series, <em>War for Westeros</em> is currently in development at PlaySide—the team behind <em>Mouse: P.I. For Hire</em>. While the project had been largely silent since its debut at the bustling Summer Game Fest 2025 showcase, it regained momentum last week with the confirmation of a delay to "early 2027."</p>

<p>"<em>War for Westeros</em> will now arrive in early 2027," PlaySide announced in a recent <a href="https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2838950/view/674000651716395172?l=english" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" target="_blank">Steam blog update</a>. While titles like Telltale’s narrative-driven adventure and <em>Reigns: Game of Thrones</em> offered quality experiences, the brand has largely been relegated to mobile offerings that often fail to capture the scale of George R.R. Martin’s world.</p>

<p>Although Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has signaled that <em>Game of Thrones</em> is now a top-tier priority for their future slate, <em>War for Westeros</em> is positioned to hit the market well ahead of any other upcoming major projects.
