The icy sea winds and snow clogging everywhere are not the best conditions for living. But for scientists who had worked at the foot of the dormant volcano before, the circumstances were a gift. It is said that the “Waderkvarn” corporation was studying unusual seismic activity here, and therefore it didn’t need any unwanted attention. It is unknown whether the scientists have managed to find anything out, but now all that is left of their buildings are ruins and a huge rift in the ground.
Years later, the Hyperboreans gave new life to this place by setting up a bay as a sort of shipyard for dismantling submarines and ships, the parts from which they sent to their melting furnaces by funicular railways. This bay became the farthest point of influence for Hyperborea — the gravitational anomalies prevented them from advancing further south. But everything changed when the Mentor became the leader of the northerners. Thanks to his staff, he was able to neutralize the effects of inexplicable forces, opening a passage to the Valley.
But the northerners were not the only ones who wanted to cross this path. Soon enough, the foot of the volcano turned into one of the many battlefields that densely populated the Wasteland. Some of the survivors tried to find the mysterious Hyperborea on their own, some hunted these adventurers, and others simply collected everything that was left of the first two. But soon the situation was aggravated by the thick black smoke coming from the long-dormant volcano. Who knows, maybe it was the awakening of the mountain that once drove scientists out of the bay.
