Lizzy Caplan cast in the upcoming FX Far Cry anthology series

Following the announcement last November regarding a new Far Cry anthology series heading to Hulu, production details are beginning to take shape. While we already knew the project was being spearheaded by creative powerhouses Noah Hawley—known for his work on Fargo and Alien: Earth—and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia creator Rob Mac, a major casting update has just arrived: Lizzy Caplan is officially joining the fold.

Caplan has built an impressive resume, recently garnering an Emmy nomination for her performance in the FX limited series Fleishman Is in Trouble and starring in Netflix’s Zero Day. Her eclectic career spans everything from the gritty drama of Showtime’s Masters of Sex and Paramount+’s Fatal Attraction to blockbuster turns in the Now You See Me franchise and the 2023 horror feature Cobweb. Of course, many fans still fondly remember her breakout role as Janis Ian in the cult classic Mean Girls.

Details regarding the show’s narrative direction remain under wraps. As an anthology, the series will likely feature rotating casts and unique settings for every episode, though it remains to be seen if the writers will directly adapt existing game storylines or venture into entirely new territory. Once completed, the series will be available on FX and Hulu, with a global release scheduled for Disney+.

This project is part of a broader push by Ubisoft to bring its iconic gaming franchises to live-action television. In addition to the Far Cry series, a live-action adaptation of Assassin’s Creed is currently in development at Netflix, produced by the creative teams behind Westworld and Halo.
