The “Rumors” are true: Lizzo and Cardi B are goddesses among us mere mortals and fans are showering the two with praise on their latest collaboration, which was released Friday (Aug. 13).
Chloe Bailey of Chloe x Halle said Lizzo and Cardi “ATE DOWNNNN. song been on repeat all morning. any time i feel down ima put that song on.” Kehlani said she’d been waiting all day on Thursday for the song to finally came out, which was accompanied by an Ancient Greece-inspired music video that felt like the 1997 Disney animated film Hercules and its Muses were, well, its muse.
“This ‘Hercules’ Muses concept for #Rumors is pure GOLD. Lizzo and Cardi did that!!!” one Twitter user wrote, while another demanded that Lizzo be cast as one of the Muses in the live-action remake of Hercules, which The Hollywood Reporter announced in April.
“Rumors” marks Lizzo’s first single since the 2019 release of her third studio album, Cuz I Love You. She won three Grammy Awards for the project: best urban contemporary album for Cuz I Love You (Deluxe); best pop solo performance for “Truth Hurts,” her first Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 song; and best traditional R&B performance for “Jerome.”
