Reflecting on the turbulent chapters of the past has ultimately provided Lindsey Buckingham with a renewed path forward alongside his Fleetwood Mac bandmates, most notably Stevie Nicks.

In a recent interview with E! News, the legendary guitarist shared that collaborating on an upcoming Fleetwood Mac documentary has fostered a deeply therapeutic and restorative journey for everyone involved.

Acknowledging the friction that surrounded his abrupt departure in 2019, Buckingham noted that things were left on unfortunate terms. However, he emphasized that those grievances have since been fully addressed and resolved.

While their professional and personal dynamic has endured well-documented strains over the decades, Buckingham revealed a heartwarming shift: “Stevie and I are talking all the time now.”

The conversation—held during Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood event in Los Angeles—arrives ahead of an anticipated definitive Fleetwood Mac documentary directed by Frank Marshall, slated for a 2027 release and featuring intimate perspectives from surviving members.

This newfound harmony follows last year’s successful reissue of their seminal 1973 collaborative record, Buckingham Nicks, which climbed to No. 3 on the Top Album Sales chart. It marks a dramatic, positive turnaround from the bitter split in 2018, which initially stemmed from scheduling conflicts surrounding solo commitments and tensions leading up to the MusiCares Person of the Year gala.

Although Buckingham subsequently pursued legal action against the group following his dismissal, that chapter is firmly in the rearview mirror.

“Next year should be a pretty interesting year,” Buckingham teased regarding future developments with his bandmates. “I think quite a few things will reveal themselves.”
