Lil Nas X‘s “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)” remains the biggest song in the world, as it adds its fifth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 chart and third week atop the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. survey.
Plus, J. Cole’s “Interlude” debuts in the Global 200’s top 10, while Tion Wayne and Russ Millions’ “Body” (assisted by seven featured acts) soars to the Global Excl. U.S. top 10.
Billboard‘s two global charts (the latest of which are dated May 22) began last September and rank songs based on streaming and sales activity culled from more than 200 territories around the world, as compiled by MRC Data. The Billboard Global 200 is inclusive of worldwide data and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart comprises data from territories excluding the U.S.
Chart rankings are based on a weighted formula incorporating official-only streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of audio and video music services, as well as download sales, the latter of which reflect purchases from full-service digital music retailers from around the world, with sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites excluded from the charts’ calculations.
‘Montero’ Maintains Global 200 Dominance
Lil Nas X’s “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)” posts its fifth week atop the Billboard Global 200, with 77 million streams (down 9%) and 5,500 sold (down 13%) worldwide in the May 7-13 tracking week.
Justin Bieber’s “Peaches,” featuring Daniel Caesar and Giveon, keeps at No. 2 on the Global 200, following its two-week reign; Dua Lipa’s “Levitating,” featuring DaBaby, hits a new No. 3 high, up from No. 4; The Weeknd and Ariana Grande’s “Save Your Tears” drops 3-4, after topping the chart two weeks earlier; and Doja Cat’s “Kiss Me More,” featuring SZA, is steady at its No. 5 best.
Elsewhere in the Global 200’s top 10, J. Cole’s “Interlude” debuts at No. 8 with 37.6 million streams and 3,300 sold worldwide in its first week, following its May 7 arrival. The song is from his sixth studio album The Off-Season, released Friday (May 14) and due on next week’s Billboard charts (dated May 29).
‘Montero’ Again No. 1 Outside U.S.
Lil Nas X’s “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)” tallies its third week at No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, with 57.7 million streams (down 7%) and 2,500 sold (down 18%) in territories outside the U.S. in the May 7-13 tracking week.
Justin Bieber’s “Peaches,” featuring Daniel Caesar and Giveon, stays at No. 2 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart, after five weeks at No. 1; The Weeknd and Ariana Grande’s “Save Your Tears” repeats at No. 3, following its No. 2 peak; Dua Lipa’s “Levitating,” featuring DaBaby, holds at No. 4, after reaching No. 3; and Doja Cat’s “Kiss Me More,” featuring SZA, reaches the top five, rising 6-5.
Additionally in the Global Excl. U.S. top 10, Tion Wayne and Russ Millions’ “Body” soars 18-6 for its first week in the bracket (34.3 million streams, up 43%; 2,000 sold, up 8%). The collaboration between the British rappers features ArrDee, E1 (3×3), ZT (3×3), Bugzy Malone, Buni, Fivio Foreign and Darkoo; the nine-artist remix arrived April 22.
“Body” additionally tops the Official U.K. Singles chart for a second week, having become the first drill No. 1 in the list’s history. The track also takes over atop the ARIA Singles Chart, marking the first British hip-hop hit to lead the Australian list.
