Oasis’ opening Australian concert at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on Friday night (Nov. 1) was disrupted when one or more audience members launched flares onto the packed floor during the final song, “Champagne Supernova.” The devices produced bright flashes that prompted alarm among nearby concertgoers.

One attendee who spoke to news.com.au described seeing bursts of light sweep through the crowd. “Each time you saw this flash, it looked like a fire, and then it was contained fairly quickly,” she said. Concerned for safety, she and her 13‑year‑old daughter left the venue before the performance ended.

Event security had been conducting bag checks at entry, but it is not yet clear how the flares got inside the stadium or whether anyone was injured. Marvel Stadium has not issued a public statement.

After the show, Liam Gallagher took to X to single out the person responsible, calling the action “seriously f***ed up” and warning that the individual would face consequences. During the performance, witnesses say Gallagher visibly expressed his displeasure from the stage — wagging a finger and mouthing “naughty, naughty” — while his brother Noel appeared visibly concerned. The band continued the set without interruption.

The Melbourne date was the first stop of Oasis’ Live 25 reunion tour in Australia. The sold‑out show drew large crowds, with some fans queuing from early morning for prime positions and groups of supporters breaking into impromptu singalongs outside the stadium. Before the set, Liam greeted the audience with, “G’day Australia! Did you miss us? Because we missed you!”

The Live 25 lineup reunites Noel and Liam Gallagher alongside Gem Archer, Andy Bell and drummer Joey Waronker. Mike Moore is filling in for original guitarist Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, who is currently receiving treatment for prostate cancer. Oasis are slated to play three nights at Marvel Stadium before moving on to two performances at Sydney’s Accor Stadium.
