L.A. Dodgers Mock Drake Using Kendrick Lamar Lyrics After Blue Jays Lose World Series

Drake is likely regrouping after the 2025 World Series concluded with his hometown team falling to the Los Angeles Dodgers. In the wake of their championship, the Dodgers wasted no time playfully needleing the rapper — even borrowing lines from Kendrick Lamar to punctuate their celebration.

After clinching Game 7 on Sunday, November 2, 2025, Los Angeles posted a team photo with players and staff wearing “World Series Champions” shirts and captioned the image, “THEY STILL NOT LIKE US,” a clear nod to Lamar’s hit track.

The barbs feel reciprocal: throughout the series Drake had taken jabs at Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani on social media. After Game 5 he shared an Instagram Story showing Ohtani in a sweater vest with the caption “ONE MORE!!!!!!!,” then posted a shot of Blue Jays batter Trey Yesavage celebrating a strikeout of Ohtani alongside a boastful message.

Drake attended Game 6 on Friday, October 31, 2025, and following Los Angeles’ eventual triumph two days later he posted a conciliatory note on Instagram: “Congrats to the Jays for a dream season and a legendary World Series fight!!!”

Los Angeles’ taunts extended beyond the clubhouse. Nike released a cinematic montage of the Dodgers set to “Not Like Us,” and Fox Sports circulated an edited image imagining Kendrick Lamar driving away with the World Series trophy while a disappointed Drake looks on.

Using “Not Like Us” as a rallying cry to tease Drake carries extra sting given the rapper’s recent legal dispute: a judge dismissed his defamation suit against Universal Music Group over the song’s lyrics, and at the end of October 2025 he filed an appeal seeking to revive the case.

The song itself has been a cultural flashpoint since Lamar released it in May 2024. It swept major awards earlier this year — Lamar took home both Song and Record of the Year at the Grammys in February 2025 — and he performed it one week later on the Super Bowl stage.
