Oscar nominee Kristen Stewart discussed preparations for her forthcoming untitled project.
Unlike her directorial debut, the drama The Chronology of Water, Stewart says she intends the new film to adopt a lighter tone. Shooting is planned in Los Angeles, and further details have not yet been released.
“I want it all to feel weightless. I don’t want to saddle myself with the heaviness of The Chronology, which reads like a body that’s endured a great deal. The process should feel ephemeral, and I’m shaping it now,” Stewart told IndieWire.
The Chronology of Water is adapted from Lydia Yuknavitch’s memoir and features Imogen Poots in the lead role. Critics praised the film (94% on Rotten Tomatoes). Its world premiere took place in the Un Certain Regard program at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.
