Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell remake remains in development, and former franchise game director David Grivel has announced his return to Ubisoft Toronto after working at EA on Battlefield 6 and completing freelance assignments.
Grivel wrote on LinkedIn:
I am incredibly, INCREDIBLY happy to announce my return to Ubisoft Toronto as the game director for the Splinter Cell remake. This team and project mean a great deal to me.
Grivel was involved with the remake from November 2021 through October 2022 before moving to EA; after a brief return to Ubisoft in 2024 working on an unannounced project, he undertook several freelance roles and has now come back.
Ubisoft has not yet shared details about the remake, but leaks and whispers suggest the game looks genuinely impressive. Earlier reports indicated a release window in the second half of 2026.
The last mainline title, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, launched in 2013, while the franchise began in 2002 and spawned several portable spin-offs.
