Danielle Jonas Details Harrowing Lyme Disease Diagnosis and Scalp Eczema
Published October 9, 2025

Danielle Jonas—wife of musician Kevin Jonas—has revealed she has been diagnosed with Lyme disease after a lengthy and distressing period of symptoms that were initially minimized by medical professionals.
In an interview published Oct. 9, 2025 by Parents, Danielle said doctors first suggested her symptoms were anxiety-related. After persistent problems, a biopsy ultimately confirmed Lyme disease and she was also diagnosed with scalp eczema, which she believes stemmed from inflammation tied to the infection.
Danielle described significant hair loss as one of the most upsetting consequences of her illness. She tried hair extensions to cope with the thinning, but the added weight and tension aggravated the eczema, worsening scalp irritation and discomfort.
According to the Mayo Clinic, Lyme disease is caused by Borrelia bacteria transmitted most commonly through infected tick bites. Long-term effects can include joint and muscle pain, skin conditions and immune-system complications; eczema (atopic dermatitis) is a separate inflammatory skin condition that produces dryness and itching and can be triggered or worsened by other health issues.
“The hair loss was very traumatic,” Danielle said, adding that the experience has been difficult for her family as well.
Danielle and Kevin, who married in 2009, share two daughters: Alena (11) and Valentina (8). She said her children have also experienced eczema flare-ups, and she reassures them that those episodes will pass as they heal.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that hundreds of thousands of people in the U.S. receive a Lyme disease diagnosis every year. Danielle joins a number of public figures who have publicly discussed their struggles with the illness, including Avril Lavigne, Justin Bieber and Shania Twain. Earlier this year, Justin Timberlake also disclosed a Lyme diagnosis and described the condition’s profound physical and mental toll.
Danielle’s announcement arrives while Kevin and his brothers—Joe and Nick—are touring to support the Jonas Brothers’ latest album, Greetings From Your Hometown, which debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200. The band recently expanded the tour with additional dates; the trek concludes this December in Brooklyn, New York.
