Keke Palmer Drops Major Hint Regarding Mel Brooks’ Role in Spaceballs 2

The long-awaited follow-up to Mel Brooks’ legendary 1987 satire Spaceballs is officially scheduled for a 2027 debut. While a cast announcement—styled after The Force Awakens—and a witty teaser have ignited fan interest, concrete plot details remain elusive. Reprising their iconic roles for Spaceballs 2 are Rick Moranis, making a landmark return to live-action cinema as Dark Helmet, alongside Bill Pullman as Lone Starr, Daphne Zuniga as Princess Vespa, and George Wyner as Colonel Sandurz. The incomparable Mel Brooks is also expected to return, likely stepping back into the shoes of both President Skroob and the wise Yogurt.

Details regarding the fresh additions to the ensemble are even more sparse. The newcomers include Josh Gad, Anthony Carrigan, and Keke Palmer. It has been reported that Lewis Pullman will portray “Starburst,” the son of Lone Starr and Vespa, a role that may parody the Kylo Ren archetype. Meanwhile, Palmer is set to play a mysterious new figure named Destiny.

In a recent conversation regarding her upcoming Peacock project The ‘Burbs, Palmer was asked if she could pull back the curtain on her Spaceballs 2 character. The Emmy-winning actress was candid but firm: “No, I can’t actually.”

However, she couldn’t help but praise the production process and her colleagues.

“What I can share is that filming this movie was an absolute blast,” Palmer remarked. “The fact that I was sharing scenes with Rick Moranis completely blew my mind. Bill Pullman is a total pro, and Lewis Pullman is equally fantastic. Between Josh Greenbaum’s direction and Josh Gad’s writing team, it was truly one of the highlights of my career. I’m incredibly eager for the world to see it, though the wait until 2027 is definitely agonizing.”

When questioned about whether she shared any screen time with Mel Brooks himself, Palmer offered a tantalizing hint: “That will be interesting for the audience to see.”

While her response was intentionally vague, it suggests a potential interaction with the 99-year-old legend. Given Brooks’ age, industry speculation suggests he might appear via creative means, such as a Force Ghost parody, which would allow for his contributions to be filmed independently.
