Kathryn Hahn, the breakout star of Agatha All Along, is reportedly in negotiations to join the cast of Disney’s upcoming live-action Rapunzel reimagining.
Hahn is being eyed for the role of Mother Gothel, the story’s iconic antagonist. Sources indicate that the part was initially offered to Scarlett Johansson, who ultimately had to pass on the project due to scheduling conflicts.
The news follows the recent announcement of the film’s primary leads: Teagan Croft (Titans) will portray the titular princess, while Milo Manheim (Thanksgiving) is set to play the charming Flynn Rider. Michael Gracey, the visionary behind The Greatest Showman, is attached to direct. A formal release date has not yet been confirmed.
Disney’s 2010 animated hit, Tangled, was a global box office success, grossing over $592 million. The original feature was brought to life by the voice talents of Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi, and Donna Murphy.
