Kate Beckinsale to Star in Final ‘Night of the Living Dead’

Underworld star Kate Beckinsale has been tapped to headline the horror film Twilight of the Dead. This project will serve as the concluding chapter in George A. Romero’s iconic Night of the Living Dead franchise.

The film was first announced in 2021, with Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil) originally attached to star and Brad Anderson (The Machinist) slated to direct. Ultimately, the directing duties have fallen to Israeli filmmakers Doron and Yoav Paz (The Golem). Before his passing in 2017, Romero had completed a detailed treatmenta comprehensive script outline without dialogue — ed.a comprehensive script outline without dialogue for the film.

Set on a ravaged Earth, Twilight of the Dead follows the remnants of humanity as they face a looming zombie threat. Romero launched the franchise with the original Night of the Living Dead in 1968, followed by the 1978 sequel, Dawn of the Dead. In total, the series spans six films, alongside an array of spin-offs and remakes.

Beckinsale was most recently seen in the action thriller Canary Black.
