“Golden” Rockets Into YouTube’s Billion Views Club Following Major Award Victory

While most musical hits require years, or even decades, to reach the elusive ten-digit milestone on YouTube, “Golden”—the breakout anthem from the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack—has achieved legendary status in record time.

In just under seven months, the vibrant track voiced by EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and REI AMI (the powerhouse trio behind the cinematic group HUNTR/X) surpassed one billion views. Since the film’s Netflix premiere in June, “Golden” has become a global phenomenon, leading a wave of soundtrack hits including “Soda Pop,” “Your Idol,” “TAKEDOWN,” and “Free,” all of which continue to climb the U.S. and international charts.

The YouTube milestone wasn’t the only reason for celebration this week. At the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, January 11, the single was honored as the Best Original Song. This accolade follows a dominant run where “Golden” spent two months atop the Billboard Hot 100 and secured the number one spot on the year-end critics’ choice list for 2025.

“It is a dream come true to be part of a song that empowers people of all ages to overcome their struggles and embrace their true selves,” EJAE shared during a poignant acceptance speech. “This award belongs to everyone who has ever faced a closed door. Rejection is merely redirection; it is never too late to shine exactly as you were meant to.”
