Despite an extended period of quiet, the One-Punch Man film is still alive and waiting for its moment.
The full-length adaptation of the One-Punch Man manga remains in development. The Hollywood Reporter notes this in an article covering Justin Lin’s other projects, including his appointment as director for the Helldivers film.
According to the outlet, Lin is still attached to the Sony Pictures project and continues to work on the film focusing on Saitama. Production was previously believed to have slowed — nearly a year has passed since the last public update. In 2024 it was reported that Dan Harmon and Heather Anne Campbell, writers associated with Rick and Morty, were rewriting the One-Punch Man screenplay. After that report there were no further updates, prompting speculation the project might be stalled.
That said, Sony has not confirmed a shutdown of production, but there is currently no available information on the status of the revised script, the start of filming, the cast, or a potential release date.
