In a press release, Geneva Jacuzzi stated:
After I heard “Les Jeux to You,” photos from Fando y Lis, a movie that has all the time haunted me, flooded my thoughts and I knew we needed to reimagine it. Set in a dystopian future previous, the 2 lovers escape to a legendary metropolis and alongside the best way are confronted with each terrifying figures of the unconscious and joyful recollections of the previous that speed up a descent into insanity. As a feminine artist, I felt the necessity to discover the anima of this delusion and reinscribe the imagery as a mode of empowerment of the female directorial gaze.
I knew it will be a problem as a result of it’s a controversial movie, but it surely was significantly unsettling to learn the current allegations in opposition to its director Alejandro Jodorowsky shortly after we made the video. It made me assume extra in regards to the undertaking and in the end bolstered my unique intention of reframing the work as a posh and nuanced tackle the psychology of self-destructive relationships.
There is a mysterious essence to this story, a kind of psycho-spiritual unravelling that I hook up with the surrealist poetry of Julia’s lyrics and music.
