Jujutsu Kaisen Vol. 1 Tops Japan’s Book Hot 100 Chart

Jujutsu Kaisen ≡ (Modulo) Vol. 1, the collaborative work of Yuji Iwasaki and original creator Gege Akutami, has surged to the summit of the Billboard Japan Book Hot 100 for the chart dated January 15.

The Japan Book Hot 100 serves as a multi-faceted metric, aggregating data from physical retail sales, digital platforms, library circulation, subscription services, and social media resonance. This inaugural volume of the spinoff series, which explores a near-future setting following the descendants of Yuta Okkotsu and Maki, commanded the rankings with absolute authority. By securing the #1 position across physical stores, e-commerce channels, and digital editions simultaneously, the title amassed nearly twice the total points of its closest competitor.

As the market stabilized following the New Year festivities, several high-profile manga sequels populated the upper echelons of the chart. Yukinobu Tatsu’s Dandadan Vol. 22 claimed the No. 2 spot, fueled by strong performances across all formats—notably ranking second in e-book sales. Takeru Hokazono’s Kagurabachi Vol. 10 followed in third place, maintaining a consistent presence within the top five of three major sales categories.

Among the week’s notable debuts, Ei Yamano’s Samuwan Hertz (Someone Hertz) Vol. 1 entered the chart at No. 19. The romantic comedy, which centers on the nostalgic culture of late-night radio, successfully cracked the top 20 in both physical and e-commerce retail metrics.
