British actress Judi Dench said she believes Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein and House of Cards star Kevin Spacey have faced enough punishment for sexual misconduct and harassment.
“I recently saw footage of Harvey on crutches and thought, ‘Well…’ I knew Harvey — knew him well, and worked with him, and, fortunately for me, I never had any such experience. I suppose he has paid his dues. For me it’s a personal matter — forgiveness,” Dench told Radio Times.
Dench and Weinstein collaborated on ten films, including the Oscar-winning Shakespeare in Love. The producer is currently serving a prison sentence in New York.
About Spacey, Dench said he had been “cleared” and that they have been in contact. In late November the actor was sued again over allegations of assault.
Earlier, Dench reported that she had nearly lost her sight.
