A disturbing confrontation involving Chappell Roan’s security detail in São Paulo, Brazil, has sparked outrage from professional soccer star Jorginho. The defensive midfielder alleges that his 11-year-old daughter—a devoted fan who had traveled to see the singer perform at Lollapalooza—was left “extremely shaken” after being targeted by the pop star’s protection team.

In a poignant statement shared via Instagram Stories prior to Roan’s Saturday night set, Jorginho detailed what he described as a “deeply distressing” encounter. The athlete’s family, including his wife Catherine Harding and their daughter, were staying at the same hotel as the “Pink Pony Club” singer.

According to Jorginho, his daughter had started the day with immense enthusiasm, even crafting a handmade sign for the artist she deeply admired. While the family was having breakfast, Roan walked past their table. Jorginho emphasized that his daughter remained respectful, merely looking up to confirm the singer’s identity and smiling at her from a distance without ever attempting to approach or speak to her.

However, the situation reportedly escalated when a member of Roan’s security team approached the family’s table. Jorginho claims the guard spoke in an “extremely aggressive” manner, accusing the child of “harassing” the singer and threatening to file a formal complaint with hotel management. The confrontation allegedly left the 11-year-old in tears.

“It was just a child admiring someone,” Jorginho wrote. “It’s heartbreaking to witness this kind of treatment from those who should value the very fans that build their success. I hope this serves as a moment of reflection. Without your fans, you would be nothing.”

While representatives for Roan have not yet issued a formal response, the incident highlights the ongoing tension between the artist’s public persona and her strict personal boundaries. Earlier this month, Roan made headlines in Paris after filming herself being swarmed by autograph seekers, expressing that she felt “disregarded as a human” when her privacy was ignored.

In the video from Paris, Roan was heard telling onlookers, “I’m asking you kindly to please leave me alone. I am not signing anything. This is what it feels like when boundaries are completely disregarded.”

Despite the controversy, Roan’s career continues to skyrocket. Her debut studio album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, reached the No. 2 spot on the Billboard 200 last year, bolstered by the success of recent viral hits like “The Giver” and “The Subway.”

Jorginho concluded his message with a stern warning to other fans, stating that the artist “does not deserve your affection” following the mistreatment of his child. Roan’s performance at the Autódromo de Interlagos proceeded as scheduled on Saturday night.
