Jennifer Lawrence to Star in New Zach Cregger Film

The Hunger Games icon Jennifer Lawrence is set to headline The Flood, a new science fiction feature helmed by director Zach Cregger, known for his work on Barbarian.

The narrative follows the crew of the exploration vessel Spiritus Mundi. Upon intercepting a mysterious transmission from an uncharted planet, the team discovers a powerful artifact capable of manipulating the fabric of time. Warner Bros. has slated the film for an international theatrical release on August 11, 2028.

Cregger, who also penned the screenplay, has indicated that the project will eschew standard horror tropes, drawing thematic and atmospheric parallels to Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. Industry insiders have further likened the scope of The Flood to Ridley Scott’s seminal classic Alien.

Lawrence was most recently seen on screen in last year’s drama Die, My Love. She is poised to reprise her iconic role as Katniss Everdeen in the upcoming installment, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, which hits theaters on November 19. Looking ahead, 2027 will see her star alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese’s highly anticipated project, The Wager.
