Jennifer Lawrence and her Hunger Games co-star Josh Hutcherson will appear in the franchise’s prequel, titled “Dawn of the Reaping.” Lawrence returns as Katniss Everdeen, while Hutcherson reprises the role of Peeta Mellark.
Their characters are expected to feature in one of the film’s flash-forwards — the story in the new The Hunger Games: Dawn of the Reaping unfolds several decades before the events of the original movie. The narrative centers on a young Haymitch Abernathy (Joseph Zada), Katniss’s future mentor, who becomes a participant in a landmark edition of the deadly competition.
Notably, the plot of the new Hunger Games film is adapted from a recently released novel by Suzanne Collins.
