Jason Kelce Shocks Kylie Kelce by Labeling a Taylor Swift Collaborator “Hip‑Hop” — Watch

Jason Kelce Mistakenly Labels Sabrina Carpenter a “Hip-Hop” Artist on Kylie Kelce’s Podcast

Clip from Kylie Kelce’s “Not Gonna Lie” podcast.

On the October 30 episode of Kylie Kelce’s podcast Not Gonna Lie, former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce sparked laughter — and a fair bit of confusion — when he described pop star Sabrina Carpenter as a hip-hop artist. The moment unfolded during a lighthearted trivia segment in which Jason and Kylie, dressed in Frozen-themed Halloween costumes, ribbed each other about their pop-culture knowledge.

Seated on a couch — Kylie sporting an Olaf outfit while Jason channeled Kristoff — the couple quizzed one another about next year’s Coachella headliners. Jason offered a hint, telling Kylie he considered two of the artists “hip-hop artists” and noting that one of them had recently collaborated with Taylor Swift.

Kylie correctly named Sabrina Carpenter, who appears on Swift’s title track released earlier in October. Carpenter is slated to share the Coachella billing with Justin Bieber and Karol G for the 2026 festival — a lineup not typically associated with hip-hop as a primary genre.

When Kylie double-checked whether Jason really counted Carpenter as hip-hop, he replied, “What else would she be?” and quipped that pop and hip-hop are “the same thing these days.” Kylie’s stunned silence and bewildered expression captured the moment’s comic awkwardness.

While hip-hop’s influence on mainstream pop is undeniable, Carpenter’s discography and chart history have primarily placed her within pop and crossover formats rather than in rap, R&B or hip-hop categories. She has enjoyed multiple Billboard Hot 100 successes, including chart-topping hits, and has appeared across pop, dance and country charts.

Whether Carpenter ever pivots stylistically is unknown, but Jason’s unexpected genre classification made for an entertaining podcast exchange — and will likely provide a funny anecdote should their circles meet at future events, like Travis Kelce’s widely anticipated wedding.
