Jason Isbell and Ben Folds had been focused by the National Republican Senate Committee (NRSC) in a press release issued today criticizing Tennessee Senate candidate Phil Bredesen. Isbell and Folds are scheduled to play a profit live performance for Bredesen in Nashville tonight. The NRSC named the musicians a part of the “unhinged left,” referencing Folds’ previous help for Bernie Sanders and Isbell’s criticism of “Christian Americans.”
Bredesen, who was governor of Tennessee from 2003 to 2011, is working for Senate on the Democratic ticket. The NRSC is headed by two sitting Senate members, Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) and Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC).
